I know many of you have had to make alterations to your 2020 plans so far due to the global pandemic that is Coronavirus COVID-19. Hopefully with that said, you’re all keeping safe and well. For me,  that’s the most important thing for the time being.

COVID-19: phase 2

With any luck now that the UK has moved into the ‘second phase’ of the lockdown things will slowly start getting back to ‘normal’ soon. At least whatever that new normal may be.  I know some of you have carried on with your normal working life whilst others have been adapting to working from home. I hope that you all have managed to keep your jobs during this uncertain time.

For those of you working in ‘key roles’ I’d like to share my thanks; keeping the country operating throughout this mad time has been a massive task.

COVID-19 and Fluffies

I haven’t had a lot to do since lockdown started. On the plus side, lots of ‘annoying’ jobs around the house have now been done!

I’m safe and well at home, although I’m not sure Squeak is quite as keen that I’m around so much. That said he doesn’t miss an opportunity for a knee …….

COVID-19 and holidays

Despite the positive news this last week on the slight easement on the lockdown conditions, the reality is that currently no holidays are yet possible here in the UK or abroad. That’s obviously having an impact on the bookings already in the diary as they were all made before things got complicated!

I’m checking the diary each month and if I’ve not heard from people I’m double-checking what their plans are. There’s little point checking much further ahead as things are changing so rapidly. Obviously there’s been a lot of cancellations throughout April & May but hopefully things will start to improve going forward. We await further news from the Government on that front.

New holidays or rearranged trips

As and when you have your new dates, please let me know and I will get them into the diary. I know some holidays (mine included) have been put back to 2021 whilst others are being rescheduled for later in the year.

I am anticipating that, as and when holidays are able to be booked that there will be a bit of a rush, so do let me know your dates as soon as you’ve got them.

July and August were incredibly popular, even more so than in previous years. The summer weather certainly didn’t live up to the standards of 2018 and I think everyone dashed off looking for the sunshine that definitely wasn’t in Stockport! We were fully booked up well in advance of the summer and have had to turn down a lot of last-minute requests and we couldn’t fit them in.

And September is no different. Even after the schools have gone back, lots of you are going away! We’re now fully booked all the way up until 14th October!!!

We still have some availability for the schools Half Term week (19th – 27th October) so get in touch soon if you’ve got a holiday booked for then but not arranged your pet care.

The school holidays tend to correspond with higher demand for pet sitting. In fact I was fully booked for all of both June and August several months in advance this year!

So if you’re planning on being away during these times let me know your dates as soon as possible.

From experience, the second week of Whitsun (when just the primary schools are on holiday) tends to be the busiest week of the year, closely followed by all of August!!

In the two years since I set up Fluffies, I’ve made over 3200 visits to pets in the Stockport area! That’s a lot of furry hellos!!

I sorted through a whole load of photos for this occasion, yet still came away with the BBC2 furry animal logo. It sums things up nicely though so I’ve gone with it.

As we go into July, things calm down a little bit, although not until the middle of the month! It’s a chance to draw breath and prepare for August!

Pet sitting demand generally follows the school holidays and unsurprisingly August is a busy month. The first couple of weeks are pretty much fully booked up now. There’s some space in the second half of the month, so if you’re planning on getting away then, let me know soon or risk being disappointed.

Happy Bank Holiday!

Well somehow we’ve bucked the trend and this bank holiday hasn’t been bad weather-wise. Let’s hope that’s a good omen for the rest of the day (and not being ‘Summer 2017’!)

Here at Fluffies, well it’s been very busy – kittens, cats, dogs, rats, pygmy goats & budgies all featuring this weekend. Here’s a few of them for you!

Getting booked up

I always recommend to my existing clients to make a booking as soon as they’ve got their dates. Some periods, especially the school holidays, see high demand, and I book up quickly.

As of 1st May I’m FULLY BOOKED for the following dates:

• 6th May – 25th June
• 22nd – 28th July
• 3rd – 19th August
• 7th – 15th October

I’ve already taken my first booking for 2018, so it’s never too early to let me know once you’ve got that holiday planned!

Easter at Fluffies has been VERY busy, I think the first week was fully booked-up by February!

The next big holiday period is the Whitsun break at the end of May. Whilst the secondary schools are out for that week, the Stockport primaries are out for the first week in June as well. Both weeks are busy already, so if you’re planning on needing pet cover, get in touch ASAP!!

After that, it’s the schools summer break in August. One week is already booked up and the other three are filling rapidly. I do my bookings on a first-come first-served basis so don’t leave it too long otherwise we’ll be full.
